Many of my clients tell me how overwhelmed they are at the thought of doing a montage. But really, all it takes is a little time, thought and organization.
As you've probably already guessed, the hardest part is selecting photos to be included. A good rule of thumb is 10 photos per minute of video. So, for a ten minute video, you will need roughly 100 photos. This number may vary depending on the tempo of the montage, or if you decide to include video clips, or if your producer canincorporate more than one shot per frame.
Here are three tips to help you choose photos that will make the best montages:
1) mix single subject shots with groups (especially groups which include people who will be seeing the montage)
2) select fewer posed shots, more action shots
3) photos which convey emotion help make your montage warmer and more meaningful
